Many people don’t know this, but Asian women do not, by nature, have straight and shiny hair. In fact, Asian hair tends to be kinky, thick, and unruly. The Japanese straight perm is why so many women in Japan and China had such lustrous, straight, and shiny hair, unbeknownst to all envious western women. Certainly, you’ve heard of the hair straightening process invented in Japan that has swept America and made countless women forever grateful to its hair-transforming powers. Japanese Perm or Thermal Reconditioning is a new Japanese treatment technique developed in Japan that uses heat to restructure the bonds in your hair. Hence, the hair lies straight, giving you glossy, smooth, shiny straight hair that requires minimum blow drying! This treatment technique had recently been introduced here in the US and a long-time favorite of Asian women. It goes by several different names – Japanese Straightening, Thermal Reconditioning, Japanese Perm, and Japanese Straight Perm. Through Japanese Perm, you will get permanent silky, smooth, amazing hair.

So, what exactly can you expect after a Thermal Reconditioning service? Well, it’s actually nothing short of miraculous if you choose the right product and stylist, as this is a delicate process that requires experienced hands and excellent products. First, you soften the hair using a solution, restructure with a scorching flat iron and re-harden the hair. The process is revolutionary and can last six to ten months. Even better, whatever hair is treated will stay straight permanently, and only the re-growth needs touching up!
We used to be so limited with straightening; now, anything is possible to remove some curl or all of the curl; it’s wonderful. Japanese Perm is great for almost every hair type: Caucasian hair, Asian hair, Norwegian hair, Middle Eastern hair, and other hair types that haven’t been mentioned here. But regardless of your hair type, be sure to get your hair properly tested by your stylist before the treatment. Let your stylist know your color/chemical history so they may protect your hair from damage. Provide information dating back up to three to five years. The results can vary depending on your hair, some clients may not need to blow dry, and some may need to blow dry with a Paddle Brush. The clients need not worry about moisture anymore. No more frizz! After Japanese Perm, you want to be sure to keep hair protected from the sun and moisturized, so frequent deep conditioning and an SPF spray or other UV protective hair product are highly recommended. You must wait for at least one to two months before coloring your hair after the treatment, depending on your stylist’s recommendations.
Some of our clients have struggled with the blow dryer and flat iron for an hour or longer to have the curl and frizz return after a few hours or less. They no longer have to worry that if it humid or moisture is in the air, their hair will frizz again. Instead, the hair is shiny and permanently straight. It is life-changing. Husbands and boyfriends no longer have to wait for hours before going out. Swimming and walks along the beach are now possible without the worry about how their hair will look. You can even bathe the kids without worrying about your hair.
The cost of the treatment can be very high, especially if your hair is particularly long or hard to “de-curl.” Typically, the longer and curlier the hair, the longer the process takes, and the more you will spend. However, if your hair is unruly or overly curly and you would like to have low maintenance, hassle-free hair that is shiny and straight, the “Japanese Straight Perm” is just the thing for you! Good luck!
